BOYISH – BIMBOS ON TOUR

Boyish was created after a failed audition attempt for a college songwriters showcase at Berklee College of Music. Singer, India Shore and guitarist, Claire Altendahl met during their freshman year and while they were told they wouldn’t get the part, the judges told them “you should work together more”.
Their first release Carnation was dedicated to the college basement show scene, featuring 7 alt-country songs and getting a write up in The New Yorker. After leaving college, the pair felt they needed to head in a new direction that felt more authentic so they wrote and released Garden Spider in February of 2020. Then, as we all know, the fun stopped and Covid hit, sending India to quarantine in Brooklyn while Claire stayed in Minneapolis, MN. It was during this time that the two finally found the sound they had been trying to write for so long. Their latest EP We’re All Gonna Die, But Here’s My Contribution reflects on heartbreak, family drama, queerness, and the apocalypse. WAGDBHMC has been featured in NYLON, Ones to Watch, Lyrical Lemonade, Them. and more 🙂

Boyish released their most recent EP, “My Friend Mica” on May 27th 2022. The two lead singles “Smithereens” and “Congratulations” received praise from Billboard, Paper, Office, and Under The Radar Magazine. The focus track “Legs” landed placements on New Music Friday, Lorem, and Out Now.

The duo have opened for artists including Hippo Campus, Remo Drive, Spill Tab, Ella Jane and more.

Rarely does modern music earn the badge timeless, but BEL cuts through the noise. Hailing from the small town of Clovis, California, Isabel Whelan crafts nostalgic songs with honesty and attention to detail, occupying the intersection of indie, pop, and folk, while taking cues from the likes of Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Mazzy Star.
After the 2022 release of her sophomore EP, Jet Lag, BEL landed on a handful of end-of-year “Artists to Watch” lists, and is continuing the momentum with new music in 2023. The first two singles, “Are You Okay?” and “Woman on Fire”, have received ample support from Sirius XM, Pandora, Spotify, Apple, and several publications. With a 3rd EP underway and her first festival announcement, 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year of releases and live performances for BEL.
