Indie Soul Night w/ Sec. & Company feautring Mona Soul, Zawadi Carroll, Reject Madrigal and Sec. & The Band

Sec. is an Indie Soul artist based in Washington, DC. influenced by artists like Childish Gambino, Toro y Moi and Sly & the Family Stone. Experimenting with logic pro software and making beats in his free time ultimately led him to start writing and producing his own songs. The lyrics of Sec.’s music touch on themes of love, self reflection and everyday life. Previously a solo act, he’s recently started performing with his band of local musicians in DC.


Mona Soul, born Jasmine Mona’ Rorie in Northern Virginia, brings a fresh and exciting perspective to the R&B/Soul/Hip Hop culture with her experimental approach to music, while staying true to its traditional values.

In 2021, Mona attended Mickey Shiloh’s “Girl Talk Writing Camp,” which led to three album placements. She collaborated on “Stallions” and “Phil of the Future,” including her self-written track “Tsunami.” Her work with Gingerr Rust on “Stallions” charted at number 23 on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds: Hip Hop” playlist.

Mona’s achievements extend beyond her own music. She was previously mentored by Mickey Shiloh where she has written for artists like Iyla, Rihanna, and Cardi B, and was a finalist in TDE Derek Ali’s “Twitch” Indie Artist competition in 2020. She has performed on the main stage of the Philippine series “Kumu” and was a finalist for “Best R&B/Soul Artist” and “Best R&B/Soul Song” in the 36th Annual Wammie Music Awards in 2024. Mona is committed to her community and collaborative work, while continuously advancing her personal career. Her journey and achievements inspire her to keep pushing boundaries in music.


Zawadi Carroll is a singer, songwriter, and creative director from Washington, DC. Zawadi’s music is a reflection of her life’s vast experiences and unique world view. Her lyrics embrace the power of feminine energy while her voice breathes calm and glamour into her listener’s ear.

Zawadi began her journey as a musician while attending The University of Wisconsin-Madison on a full tuition scholarship. From there she brought her creative talents back to the East Coast where she built the House of Ethereal Realness, a femme based arts collective committed to providing intentional and safe spaces that foster radical joy and love.
