Moonshine Society is the offspring of three promising young music scholars who came together at Boston’s renown Berklee College of Music. Of like minds and musical passions, they united in 2009 to create their own brand of soulful blues, roots rock and old-school R&B- if a fundamental definition is actually required. In truth, they teamed to craft their own formula of music that speaks to the soul and defies the labels of traditional musical confines.
-
The trio sealed their pact one moonlit night in the Anacostia Delta, where then and there, their name became written in the stars. They were to be Moonshine Society. Little did they know on that fateful night that they were buckled in on a launching pad set to rocket them at dizzying speed to performance destinations of their wildest dreams throughout the US and the world. In retrospect, though, it’s little wonder considering the band’s composition of killer talent, now four-plus strong.
Leading the troupe is impassioned, soulful singer and songwriter Jenny Langer, who has shared the stage with such musical greats as Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and Jack Pearson of Allman Brothers fame, Susan Tedeschi of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gov't Mule and Jimmy Vivino from Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Part vamp and part glamour girl, she is all-commanding in her on-stage deliveries and becomes pure sorceress spellbinding audiences with her searing hot vocals. To quote from her sizzling seductive rendition of “Fever” -what a lovely way to burn.
Others agree. In 2012, three members were inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame for their work with legendary harmonica player Charlie Sayles. They have opened for artists included Johnny Winter, George Clinton and Funkadelic, Tower of Power, Sister Sparrow, Junior Marvin & The Wailers, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, The Family Stone, Roomful of Blues, The Nighthawks, Mud Morganfield, WuTang Clan, Tab Benoit, Indigenous, Samantha Fish and more. Members have also performed and recorded with John Mayer, Warren Haynes, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Danny Gatton, Brian Eno, Jason Ricci and more.
-
Locally in Washington, DC, the band and album have received Wammie awards for Best Blues Band and Best Blues Album and have repeatedly been named in Top Fan Favorite Lists in Washington, DC and Virginia. See for yourself why this band is making waves in the international blues scene thrilling audiences at festivals with a fresh take on the classic American roots style.

Roz has starred in the company’s production of Black Pearl Sings! in Spring of 2019 which was Helen Hayes Recommended by Theatre Washington. As part of this project Roz led the company in a reading of the play at the Library of Congress and was also a guiding force in our workshops and conversation with Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where she was on the faculty of the Theatre and Music Departments.
In May 2022, Roz took on the pivotal role of Mary Burrell in the Alliance premiere of Voices of Zion: The Black Georgetown Cemeteries Project.
Roz is currently in the national touring company of the Broadway musical Tina, in the role of Tina's mother. Roz White has starred in and received stellar reviews for her self-penned cabaret Pearl Bailey... by Request, which made its World Premiere at Metrostage, in Alexandria VA in 2008 and made its debut Off-Broadway in 2011. This phenomenal singer-actress has performed at area theatres across the DMV, including Studio Theatre, Mosaic, and (most regularly featured) in MetroStage shows, including a former production of Black Pearl Sings! Many times over the years, she has collaborated successfully with writer-director Thomas W. Jones II, including his “Lady” in Ladies Swing The Blues, Three Sistahs, and perhaps most especially in Bessie’s Blues, which garnered her the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical.
Other theatrical credits include international, national and regional companies of Dreamgirls, Blues In The Night, Eubie, Rejoice, Don’t Stop The Carnival, Guys and Dolls, and Mahalia.
Roz has recorded and toured with many artists including gospel music legend Yolanda Adams and has also worked as a featured vocalist with Stevie Wonder and the late Michael Jackson. Her newest music venture is called "Griot Soul" which merges her storytelling gift with the warmth and earthiness of her vocal styling. Her film credits include Black and Blue, and How The Day Begins.
Roz White is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and D.I.V.A. Incorporated, The Society for Women in the Arts.

SNEAKS - "Like a piece of art with as many interpretations as people who view it, Eva Moolchan aka Sneaks’ music is kaleidoscopic, completely unique to the listener. With astrological assertions alongside poetry filtered through a riot grrl spirit and set to thumping bass lines and infectious beats, Moolchan asks all of the questions but invites the listener to divine their own answers. Moolchan also writes zines and makes short films."
--
Veronica Faison (she/her) is a DC-based singer-songwriter largely influenced by the classic jazz vocals of Nina Simone and Billie Holiday and the witty lyricism present in folk and piano-based pop. A confessional wordsmith, Veronica also commands a three-octave range and a sentimental nature. She daylights as a lawyer in the gender justice movement, hoping for a world where more people can live with the dignity and delight they’re entitled to.
--
ViRG’ is a synth-based indie rock band from Virginia formed by Piano Whitman. ‘ViRG’ is centered around Whitman’s commanding voice reinforced by intricate, lush synthesizers and strong rhythms produced by both drum-machines and acoustic percussion. Fans of both straight ahead indie-pop songwriting or the moody tech excursions of ‘Kid A’ will find something to enjoy in ViRG’s repertoire.
--
Devon Williams (she/her) is a singer-songwriter-guitarist performing around Washington DC. Her music chapters her experiences as a queer twentysomething through confessional songwriting, cathartic melodies, and chords she thinks sound cool. Devon is influenced by artists like boygenius, Mitski, and Car Seat Headrest.
--
Zawadi Carroll is a singer, songwriter, and creative director from Washington, DC. Zawadi’s music is a reflection of her vast life experiences. Her lyrics embrace the power of feminine energy while her voice breathes calm and glamour into her listener’s ear.
Zawadi began her journey as a musician while attending The University of Wisconsin-Madison on a full tuition scholarship. From there she brought her creative talents back to the East Coast where she built the House of Ethereal Realness, a femme based arts collective committed to providing intentional and safe spaces that foster radical joy and love
