Lineup:

Mambo Sauce delivers a fresh fusion of old-Soul (think Marvin Gaye), new school Hip-Hop, cross-bred with Rock and the deep and thick percussions of Go-Go, the indigenous sound of DC.

Footwerk is a live hip-hop/neo-soul band based out of Washington DC.

Driving with a fine fusion of emotional integrity and enchanting, energizing musicianship, songwriter and artist Cat Janice delivers a fresh thread of artistry to the modern music scene. The indie gem presents a skilful balance of soaring vocals, snappy guitar lines and euphoric synths, for a uniquely immersive take on contemporary pop.

The Austin Chronicle dubbed "Stevie Wonder of Austin" has attracted the most discerning boogie funk aficionados for more than two decades as Austin's premier classic soul composer, D-Madness aka Dwayne Jackson.

Who Killed R&B?” Sean “Diddy” (or Love or Puffy or Puff Daddy — or whatever you call him) asked the question recently. But The R&B Club DC isn’t touching that with a 10-foot pole. What we are, however, is excited to announce our next event!

Come join The R&B Club at Songbyrd in Union Market as we pay homage to Diddy’s storied, complex, oftentimes controversial, but celebrated R&B legacy! We’re talking Jodeci, Mary J Blige, Uptown Records and Andre Harrell, Biggie, Faith Evans, 112, Dirty Money’s Last Train To Paris— and who knows, we may even get some Making The Band references in there!

The R&B Club is a cultural group founded in 2018 by music aficionado Ashley-Dior Thomas, entrepreneur and writer Marcus K. Dowling, well-respected journalist Julian Kimble and critically-acclaimed author and journalist Justin Tinsley to celebrate the legacy of soul music. In other words, think of it as a musical book club. Our current theme is "Diary of an R&B Songwriter and Producer" where we dissect and praise the often unsung heroes of the genre.

Join us on Sunday, September 11, from 12-2 PM at Songbyrd. Grab advance tickets for $15 and day of for $20! Tickets include a mimosa, coffee or soda! Food available for purchase. All ages are welcome! You already know this one is about to turn into a party real quick!
