It's understandable that producers and songwriters would want to leave their fingerprints on their work after they hand it over. Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins has, but the stamp is more distinct than the "Darkchild" producer tag you hear whispered at the start of numerous R&B songs over the past 25-plus years. You know it's him based on the music.
Since the mid-1990s, Jerkins has written and produced for the likes of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Destiny's Child, Beyoncé on her own, Monica, Brandy, Ray J, Tamia, and many more. Success alone doesn't define producers and songwriters, but Jerkins has the hits, the hardware, and, most importantly, the musical chops. For that reason, he's the R&B Club's next featured songwriter and producer.

The R&B Club is a cultural group founded in 2018 by music aficionado Ashley-Dior Thomas, entrepreneur and writer Marcus K. Dowling, well-respected writer Julian Kimble and critically-acclaimed author, and journalist Justin Tinsley to celebrate the legacy of soul music. In other words, think of it as a musical book club.
