GWUG PRESENTS: A DANCE PARTY
DJ NoRequests was born & raised in PG county Maryland, an area enriched with black culture and creativity; granting him a love for music at an early age. It wasn’t until college that he began to find his way to DJ’ing by being the only person at his college parties with all the newest bangers on his laptop. That prepared him for the huge opportunities to come like his radio show in College park, MD. Gaining notoriety from spinning live, he was able to find himself in staples in the DMV area like the Fillmore, Howard theatre, Maryland live casino, and many more.
OOMPH was always was the type of person who could listen to music and easily mix the songs in her head. At the end of her senior year in high school she made the impulsive decision to buy her first controller. Not knowing where to begin she became discouraged and didn’t pursue it further.
In college she found herself surrounded by a couple other DJs which allowed her to see up close how to do things. During the pandemic in 2019 she decided to pick up the controller and try again. Back then she went by QhloTheShow but now she goes by OOMPH. She creates experimental mixes that range from a variety of sounds, beats, and vocals to create an immersive experience that trigger’s nostalgia.
TooFknLoud is the alter ego of Ian Persaud, a first generation Indo-Caribbean producer/dj. He grew up in Queens, NY hearing a great diversity of music, with Latin, Caribbean, and Indian cultural influences. In his music, he weaves these elements in novel ways with electronic sounds to create new soundscapes influenced by the tunes of producers and artists like Ape Drums, Krs., Jawns, and more. In all these cultures, dance bears great significance, so you can look forward to a set of non-stop music to move to – best played way too loud. There’s nowhere else at the function Ian would rather be than behind the Decks. After meeting an incredible community in the DMV, Ian is excited to bring his show to new stages in DC
