JUMP UP RECORDS 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Montey Neysmith (of SYMARIP)
Eastern Standard Time
Washington DC’s messengers of the Caribbean Beat sound. Eastern Standard Time brings together top musicians from the Jazz, Soul, and Caribbean music scenes of the nation’s capital. Merging rhythms from the islands with melodies from Birdland, their sound is like no other.
The Fuss is a dynamic ska and rocksteady band from Washington, D.C. Their sound pays tribute to the music of 1960’s Jamaica and the British Mod scene, while putting modern slant on the timeless styles. The group showcases 3-part female harmonies and a 3-piece horn section. The Fuss’s lively vibe gets a crowd going, yet is smooth and steady for a great groove. Since the band formed in 2014, they’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with The Skatalites, The Toasters, The Pietasters, Eastern Standard Time, The Interrupters, Save Ferris, The Steady 45’s, JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, The Scofflaws, and many more.
The Scotch Bonnets are punky reggae rockers from Baltimore, Maryland. Their sound is an infectious blend of Jamaican-inspired grooves with American rock and R&B stylings.
The Scotch Bonnets’ leader and visionary is Lady Hatchet a.k.a. Kristin Forbes. A formidable triple threat as lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter, she leads a seasoned sextet of three men and three women drawn from the Mid-Atlantic music scene.
Since the band’s founding in 2009, the Scotch Bonnets have cut their teeth in collaborations with HR of Bad Brains and Roddy Radiation of The Specials. Early triumphs led to local headlining shows and opening slots for touring acts including The English Beat, Fishbone, The Slackers, The Toasters, The Suicide Machines, The Pietasters, and The Aggrolites.
