A Hatchie song is immediately transportive -- a celestial collision of shoegaze and pop, a haze of reverb-laden guitar lines and lyrics acutely charting a vivid flood of emotions, about anything from falling in love to anxieties about your own identity. It’s a map of Harriette Pilbeam’s interior world, wrapped up in gauzy, wall-of-sound daydreams. The Brisbane, Aus. native behind the moniker makes music that’s hook-laden and thoughtful, dreamy and dense, and, above all, immediately recognizable as Hatchie.

“This Enchanted” is Hatchie’s first new single since her lauded debut album Keepsake, as well as the first release via Secretly Canadian. It captures the intense rush of love, the way you can plunge into those feelings the same way you could drown in a Hatchie song -- a tidal wave of swirling textures, kaleidoscopic guitars and layers of twinkling synths, but with intensified energy. Consider it, if you will, a reintroduction to Hatchie’s sound.

Punctuated by an oversized bassline, “This Enchanted” is a dusky, nebulous glimmer, envisioning Hatchie on the dance floor, essentially capturing a creative spark on tape. For Pilbeam, it felt like a lightbulb moment in her songwriting, a burst of creative energy and sudden inspiration for the new places she’d take Hatchie from the initial waves of success. A new direction inviting more movement, more fun -- diverting away from shoegaze and inviting the listener to look up, too.

Blood Red Shoes have been busy. After years spent living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, world events threw them back together into what has become the must fruitful era of their 17 years together.
-
“It’s been a loooong time since we both lived in the same city”, explains Steven. “I mean we actually wrote this album in LA at Laura’s place, then came to the UK to record it…and then everything went nuts”.
-
Realizing very quickly that they wouldn’t be able to release the album or tour until the world returned to some kind of normality, the band found their energies quickly spilled over into other projects. Laura-Mary started a podcast, Never Meet Your Idols, with her best friend in LA, interviewing everyone from Zack Snyder to Mark Lanegan to CHVRCHES. It is now about to start its third season. Steven started applying his love of electronic music by writing and producing other alternative artists like Circe, ARXX, Aiko and XCerts, racking up millions of streams in the process.
“Yeah then I needed to hire Steve!” jokes Laura-Mary. Finishing up her debut solo release, she needed a familiar face to push the record button on her last couple of songs, down at the pair’s new “Jazz Life East” studio. Steven willfully obliged, and Laura-Mary’s solo mini-album Town Called Nothing comes out this December.
-- Mz Neon is a genre bending punk chanteuse turned rap mistress based in Los Angeles by way of Brooklyn, NYC. A lyrical provocateur, Mz Neon confronts issues of identity, sexuality, politics, spirituality and lived experiences as a trans-femme-fatale with a punk rock pedigree. She is a triple threat of sharp wit, hypnotic sensuality and musical virtuosity with a tough yet unapologetic ownership of her own visceral vulnerability. --

Phillips Saylor Wisor - aka Stripmall Ballads - has been a veteran presence on the North American folk scene for the past 20 years. He founded the critically acclaimed old-time band, The Shiftless Rounders, was the touring banjo player in King Wilkie, and spent years touring Canada with Po’ Girl, Carolyn Mark, Luther Wright and Sarah Harmer.
- Stripmall Ballads won the 2021 Wammie for Best Folk Album for his last album, Distant. For the first time since its release, the album will be performed in its entirety with the full studio band.
-
His music is identifiable by the mountain banjo and his unique guitar style that combines Piedmont Blues, Bluegrass and Psychedelic Country influences. With a playful and sardonic wit, his songs explore what’s left to be found along the underbelly backroads of the American ideal, showering its mythology in favor of poetic recognition and reckoning. “Vivid imagery and creative songwriting. It’s 21st century dustbowl Americana - a modern sound with hints of the greats.” - Folk & Tumble (Ireland)

Fresh off a 30-date US tour in support of Japanese Breakfast main stage performance at 88rising’s Head In The Clouds III festival, Toronto based multi-instrumentalist, Luna Li is set for a breakthrough 2022. Luna Li rapidly built her fan base over the last year by self-producing 60 second multi-instrument beat videos across the internet. In “February 2021, Luna Li released jams EP”, a compilation of her fans' favourite loops (“why aren't people queuing up to buy beats from this person" says Anthony Fantano aka Needle Drop). In 2021, Luna Li also released a series of singles, including her collaboration with Serena Isioma ‘Flower (In Full Bloom)’, the angelic pop single ‘Cherry Pit’ and fan-favourite, Afterglow, which have accumulated over 15M+ streams ahead of her debut coming in 2022
-- Niko Rubio When creating her debut project, 20-year-old singer/songwriter Niko Rubio found a never-ending muse in the Pacific Coast Highway: the iconic stretch of road that runs along the ocean for nearly the entire length of California, including the Southern California South Bay area where she grew up. Expansive and euphoric, Niko’s radiant form of songwriting perfectly echoes the pure sense of possibility that accompanies driving down the PCH. Drawing inspiration from the collage of artists she’s come to admire throughout her life including Vampire WeekendLana Del ReyErykah Badu & Twenty One Pilots, as well as the mariachi & banda music her grandparents played at home, Niko’s music is an amalgamation of these influences, but unique in its effervescent melodies and unpredictable textures. Using cinematically detailed references and her effortlessly untamed vocals, Niko is ready to take those who listen to her debut EP Wish You Were Here on a sonic road trip along the highway where it became a possibility."
